OUTDOOR RECREATION
Biking
The official 2008
season is over. COA Bike Group plans to return in 2009. Here
is what we will be doing:
Rides are on Thursdays, beginning the end
of April and continuing to October.
Objectives: to have a good time; to get
some exercise; to see beautiful parts of New Hampshire and
Vermont.
Rides vary in length from 15 to 32 miles
with most 20 to 25 miles.
Rides are rated by elevation gain from
“easy”, those with very little elevation gain, to “moderate”,
to “more challenging” meaning 1000’ to 1500’ of elevation
gain.
Some rides start near New London. Others
from the the seacoast to the Connecticut valley.
The pace is a moderate, about 12 per hour
on the flat, the same standard used by Elderhostel trips.
Most rides are on paved roads. A few
have some dirt roads. A few use rail trails.
Helmets are required. Bicycles in good
repair are required.
The schedule for each month is in the
COA Courier, and also on this site.
